HOMEBOUND --- Sung to the tune of Simon & Garfunkel's "Homeward Bound" The Philmont lyrics were written by Patrick Kyle, who was on the 2002 Activities staff. I’m sitting on the Tooth of Time, trying to figure out some rhyme. My boots are wet with morning dew as I watch this day begin anew, Red and white and orange and blue — Me, my backpack, and my crew. G C G C Homebound, I wish I was, homebound. G F C Home, where the food’s not powder! G F C Home, where you get hot showers! G F C Home, with electric power silently waiting. -- (OR optional lyrics) -- G F C D G Home, where electrity lies waiting silently for me. We hike along some mountain stream in scenery that’s fit for dreams. We take a break for Ritz and cheese, and I ask for jalapeno please, Give my packet a hardy squeeze, and eat beneath the shady trees. Homebound… Tonight I’ll sleep beneath the stars, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars. I’ll dream of Ponderosa pines, and music played at Cypher’s Mine. And when I see that Homebound sign, I know that I’ll be doing fine. Homebound… With thanks to Doug Marquis for passing it on, and Sheila Lozon for requesting it.
